Hadashah donates 65 pairs of glasses to Operation Bright Sight

President of the Polokwane Lion’s Club Karl Varkevisser, said they are thankful for Hadashah Learning Centre for the support as they are the only school who actively participates in the initiative.

POLOKWANE – Annually at the end of October, Hadashah Learning Centre invites Karl Varkevisser, the president of the Polokwane Lion’s Club for a special visit to the school.

It is during this visit that the school hands over pairs of spectacles to the Lion’s Club for Operation Bright Sight, an international project where all the Lion’s clubs in the world collect spectacles to be repaired. It is then donated to those in need.

The reason why the handover takes place at the end of October, is because October is World Eye Care Awareness Month and the learners are also made aware of their own eye care.
This year the school handed over 65 pairs of glasses to be used for those in need.

“We are thankful for Hadashah Learning Centre who support this initiative.

“There are donation boxes at most optometrists in the city where spectacles can be donated, but Hadashah is the only school that actively takes part,” Varkevisser remarked.
