Magic carpet ride at Mitchell House
Dressed in a variety of colourful themed costumes, the learners portrayed the play based on the Disney film Aladdin.
POLOKWANE – Mitchell House intermediate phase learners entertained family and friends in the three-day-show Aladdin junior play, that was held in the theatre last Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Enrichment centre learner Nare Mathobela and the deputy head of preparatory school, Kerry Spratt were the masters of ceremonies for the evening as they introduced the characters and purpose of the night, in their classy formal wear.
Dressed in a variety of colourful Aladdin themed costumes, the learners portrayed the play based on a Disney film play written, produced and directed by Ron Clements, John Musker, Terry Rossio and Ted Elliot. Aladdin is a common thief who fell in love with the princess Jasmine, but couldn’t marry her since he was not a prince. Jafar was a royal vizier with a hidden agenda who enlisted Aladdin’s help to retrieve a magical lamp that had a genie inside.

Aladdin and Jasmine were also seen on the magical carpet that moved on stage.
The organiser of the play, Flo Lekganayane helped learners with the rehearsals and made sure they were ready for the big performance evenings. Lekganayane is also an arts, cultural coordinator and Gr 4 Sepedi teacher who said she was proud of the learners for working hard and all the effort they put into their performances.
