PEPPS learners discover farming at Weiveld

The visit offered a hands-on experience, helping learners understand where food comes from, the role of farming, and the importance of animals in the ecosystem.

POLOKWANE – PEPPS’s Gr 2 learners enjoyed a memorable field trip to Weiveld Boerdery last Tuesday, designed to reinforce their classroom lessons on farm animals and plants.

The visit offered a hands-on experience, helping learners understand where food comes from, the role of farming, and the importance of animals in the ecosystem. It fostered both curiosity and a deeper connection to nature.

“Farmer George guided our young learners through the world of farming, explaining the importance of agriculture and how to care for farm animals,” shared Amy Mashiane, teacher and event coordinator.

During the tour, learners delighted in feeding chickens, a joyful and slightly giggly experience as the birds pecked at the feed.

By the end of the day, they had learned about a variety of farm animals, how to milk a cow, and how animals behave around people.

Engaged and enthusiastic, the learners enjoyed asking questions and making the most of this hands-on learning opportunity.
