Time management key to success for Flora Park’s head boy

Flora Park head boy Mashoto Kunutu (17) shares how time management helps him balance leadership, academics and high expectations.

POLOKWANE – For Flora Park Comprehensive High School’s head boy, Mashoto Kunutu, effective leadership all comes down to one key skill: time management.

The 17-year-old says being elected head boy was an exciting moment, but he knew it would take hard work and commitment to live up to the role.

“As head boy, I serve as a bridge between the learners and the school board. I also help oversee the logistics of school events and assist teachers where needed. Most importantly, I represent the school and its values,”

Mashoto has developed strong time management skills that help him stay organised and strike a balance between his academic responsibilities and his leadership duties.

“I plan my schedule to ensure I meet all my obligations while prioritising my schoolwork,” he said.

Despite the pressure that comes with the role, he remains dedicated and focused.

“The expectations are high. I’m expected to lead by example and reflect what the school’s policies stand for,” he added.

As a fellow Gr 12 learner, Mashoto encourages his peers to spend more time on subjects they find difficult and to make rest a priority so they can better retain what they study.
