Premier Stan Mathabatha has sent a message of support to Baroka Football Club as they march closer to their promotional match into the elite league.
Baroka will play Milano United Football Club in the last match of National First Division (NFD) at the old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.
They only need to win or draw the match in order to realise their dream of plying their trade in South Africa’s biggest soccer league, the Premier Soccer League (PSL).
“We are praying and hoping they succeed in their venture. Limpopo is proud to have a team of this fighting spirit, and they won’t disappoint,” Mathabatha told Polokwane Observer on Tuesday.
“We were disappointed that they are not in the Nedbank final which is being played here at home. That would have been a thrill. Limpopo will, when Baroka Football Club is promoted, feature two outfits in the Premier League, Polokwane City Football Club and Baroka. In the near future we hope to see Black Leopards back in the PSL,” Mathabatha said.
He called on people of the province, including business to support home teams. He also called on mining houses to invest in Limpopo teams, which is an empowerment tool for youth.
