Fans of Kaizer Chiefs Football Club will have an opportunity to see their favourite players and new signings in action at the Film Arts Music and Entertainment (Fame) Charity Cup Soccer Spectacular set to take place at the new Peter Mokaba Stadium on 6 August.
The inaugural tournament will also feature new Premier Soccer League (PSL) outfit Baroka Football Club, Magezi Football Club and Black Leopards Football Club who are both in the National First Division (NFD).
The tournament which is about raising funds for charity organisations in the Province and bursaries for students in need of financial support will also form part of the teams’s pre-season preparations.
Chiefs last played a pre-season tournament at the Stadium in 2011 when they played English Premiership giants Tottenham Hotspurs in the Vodacom Challenge.
Chairperson of Fame Legacy Matodzi Makananisa said they are looking forward to a great spectacle on the day.
“The matches will be played in one day and all the teams will bring all their players including new recruits. This is the provincial tournament and we are urging soccer fans to come in numbers and help us to achieve our objective of raising funds. Tickets are already available at Computicket for R80. All the proceeds will go to different charity organisations in the province,” Makananisa said.
He also mentioned that they could have chosen any team outside the province but opted for Kaizer Chiefs because it has huge following in the country and the province. “It also has a huge command in the province and we want to use as a draw card,” Makananisa concluded.
