Baroka players ready for PSL action

With only three weeks left before the start of the 2016/17 Premier Soccer League (PSL), Chief Executive Officer of Baroka Football Club, Morgan Mammila is adamant that the new players they have signed up will do well despite not having PSL experience.
Mammila was calming fears of supporters who urged the management of the team to buy more players with PSL experience in order for them to compete.
The National First Division (NFD) Champions signed 13 players from ABC Motsepe League and NFD in June. The only player who has played in PSL before is Jacky Motshegwa who once plied his trade at Orlando Pirates and Bloemfontein Celtic.
“We are aware of the concerns from our supporters but we don’t want experience, we want talented players in the team. If experience was important, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates would have won the league last season because they have players with lots of experience,” he said.
“Sundowns won the league because they have talented players who are far better than those of Chiefs and Pirates. What I am trying to say is that in football experience does not count but quality and talent do. I am confident that the players we have signed will do well in the league and compete for major titles,” stated Mammila.
He added that they have put plans to travel to Zimbabwe on hold until the strike situation in the neighbouring country become calm again. “We were planning to play a couple of matches there with local teams as part of pre-season training but we had to put everything on hold. We are now preparing for the Fame Charity Cup match against Black Leopards on 6 August and we are ready,” Mammila stressed.
