In an endeavour to assist local football clubs and encourage the youth to participate in sport activities, four sport enthusiasts from Ga-Matamanyane village in Moletjie donated soccer equipment to five local clubs during a ceremony held at Mamolemane Secondary School on Sunday.
The group that calls themselves Moletjie Sports Development Working Group is said to be a voluntary grouping of like-minded individuals with a strong interest and passion in sports development, especially in rural areas. One of the members, Justice Mabote said in support of the good work that is done by soccer teams in developing young athletes and providing multitude of life skills, the group has pledged to donate some training equipment to five local teams.
“We are making this contribution in support of the good work that you are doing in our community and to encourage other young people in giving their time and efforts towards sports and other social improvement programmes,” explained Mabote.
The group is made up of Maserole Mokoele, Tlou Mokoele, Maphuti Mokoele and Mabote while teams that benefitted from the donation are Boss Barcelona Football Club, Moila Morning Stars, V7, Nkoana Tigers and Rising Stars Football Club. The ceremony attracted the likes of Safa Capricorn Technical Officer, Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club provincial scout, Fifa instructor, provincial football selector and provincial u.19 football coach Ike Pula who addressed attendees.
Pula said football coaches must communicate with parents and aim to develop the youth into professional football players. He further thanked the group for coming with such an initiative and urged coaches to build a solid relationship with the group to improve the level of football in Moletjie. Barcelona and V7 received soccer kits and other equipment given to all the teams being speed ladder, speed hurdle, cones and skipping ropes, hula hoops, evasion belts, squeeze bottles and string gym bags.
Teams that received equipment will participate in a top eight soccer tournament that is scheduled for 26 December but the venue and three additional teams are yet to be announced. Coach Joel ‘Boss’ Senyatsi thanked the group on behalf of all the teams and encouraged companies to come on board and help take the level of sport in Moletjie to greater heights.
