Hanru Botha palm silwer by Statebondspele in

Hanru, top stoeier en eienaar van die Brave Stoeiklub op die dorp, het vanoggend 'n silwer medalje by die Statebondspele in Queensland, Australië om sy nek gehang.

MOKOPANE – Mokopane se welbekende stoeier, Hanru Botha, het vandag sy belofte om ‘n medalje huistoe te bring nagekom.

Hanru, top stoeier en eienaar van die Brave Stoeiklub op die dorp, het vanoggend ‘n silwer medalje by die Statebondspele in Queensland, Australië om sy nek gehang.

Hy het in die finaal teen Sushil Kumar, ‘n wêreldkampioen en medaljehouer van Indië, verloor in die vrystylafdeling (74 kg).

Hanru het sy gevegte teen sy teenstanders van Nigerië (5-0), Wallis (4-0) en Sierra Leone (4-1) vroeër gewen wat vir hom ‘n plek in die finaal verseker het.

Sy pa, Rudi, loop breëbors oor Hanru se silwer medalje. “Ek het nie gedink hy gaan in die finaal stoei nie. Dit was Hanru se groot droom om ‘n medalje huistoe te bring en hy was voor die Spele topfiks en gereed om sy beste te gee.”
