Whirlwind tour for Cargo Train team
THE Cargo Train, as Cargo Sports Academy is affectionately known, will embark on a whirlwind tour to Mpumalanga for a series of matches in football and netball on May 30.
MANKWENG – THE Cargo Train, as Cargo Sports Academy is affectionately known, will embark on a whirlwind tour to Mpumalanga for a series of matches in football and netball on May 30.
The trip to the east is part of the academy’s principal and head coach, Gilbert “Cargo” Mamabolo’s mission to establish another sports academy in Mpumalanga.
The Mankweng-based academy’s soccer side will test its strength against Absa Premiership minnows Black Aces and Mbombela United.
Another exciting prospect will be the netball game.
The highly motivated touring party is expected to show some glimpses of brilliance when they face off against Kabokweni Netball Club.
The trip to Mbombela will provide Cargo the chance to market themselves to talent scouts.
“We are well aware that Mbomebela United are looking for quality players as they are preparing for their National First Division play-offs.
“This is one of the trips that should have positive results as it will give the players some opportunities to spread their wings.
“We are highly optimistic that during this tour of Mpumalanga, United might be interested in some of our players.
“We have plenty of talented players at our academy who are campaigning in the Polokwane Local Football League and Polokwane Netball League,” Mamabolo said.
Mamabolo said the key purpose of the trip would be to strengthen relations between the academy and its Mpumalanga counterparts.
“We are calling upon our supporters in the province to rally behind us and attend in large numbers so that they can witness the historic moment when we intensify our relationship with our friends in Mpumalanga.
“This event will certainly open doors for our players in future, especially since we will be opening another academy in Mbombela next year,” Mamabolo said.
Meanwhile, the academy will be holding trials for players who want to be part of the institution’s 2016 program.
Mamabolo has urged budding football and netball players to attend the trials.
“Players who want to be part of these trials are requested to bring along their playing kit, foodstuff and R40 registration fee,” Mamabolo said.
In the weeks leading to Mbombela, the players from Cargo Sports Academy will visit several tourist destinations including the world-renowned Kruger National Park and God’s Window.
