Five JKA karatekas kick their way to top spots

Five karatekas from the Pietersburg Japan Karate Association (JKA) Karate Club competed in the South African JKA Karate Championships in Johannesburg over the weekend, where they returned with medals.

POLOKWANE – Five karatekas from the Pietersburg Japan Karate Association (JKA) Karate Club competed in the South African JKA Karate Championships in Johannesburg over the weekend, where they returned with medals.

Terrens van Wyk competed in the u/13 division for free fighting and received a bronze medal, Kealeboga Talane competed in the u/12 division for free fighting and received a bronze medal, while Cornia Claassens competed in the u/12 kata and free fighting division and received gold medals in both styles.

At the South African JKA Karate Championships, eight out of each age group from u/9 to u/21 were chosen to compete in the African JKA Karate Cup in September.

Gadima Seriti, who competed in the u/14 division for free fighting and received a silver medal, was chosen as one of the eight fighters who will compete in the African JKA Karate Cup.

Louize Stoltz did not receive a medal, but was also chosen to compete in the African JKA Karate Cup.

“We are extremely proud of these students, they did very well and we wish them good luck at the African Cup,” said Piet van Rensburg, Pietersburg JKA Karate Club instructor .
