Squash is her fame
A local squash player, Reese Bain, competed in the Penang International Junior Squash Championship in Malaysia recently.
POLOKWANE – A local squash player, Reese Bain, competed in the Penang International Junior Squash Championship in Malaysia recently.
The championship was part of the South African Schools team tour to Hong Kong and Malaysia that took place in May and June.
According to Reese’s mother, Samantha, Reese did exceptionally well in the championships and was ranked 22. She added that Reese and her teammates received training at the Nicol David Squash Centre in Malaysia to enhance their skills and tactics.
David is currently ranked one in the world and has been holding the title for 110 consecutive months.
Reese was part of the Country Festivals team that participated in the South African Schools Squash Tournament in Bloemfontein from June 27 to July 1. The team finished in first place and was announced as the 2015 champions.
Reese was handpicked with other players during the South African Junior Closed Championship that was held in Johannesburg early this year to compete in the Penang International Junior Squash Championship.
Samantha said she was proud of her daughter and saw a bright future ahead of her in the sport of squash. She added that hard work, passion and dedication delivered wonderful results.
Her dream is to make it to the South African top 10 squash players and compete in big squash leagues with top players around the world. Reese started playing squash when she was 10 years old and she has been doing her best to win most of the tournaments.
