‘Eksteen’s dojo is open to all’
Henri Eksteen focuses on stand-up tactics such as boxing, karate, kick boxing, muay thai, MMA, and intense fitness training routines.
POLOKWANE – Henri Eksteen’s cage fighting promotions and mixed martial arts (MMA) training in association with the World International Martial Arts Association and Organisation (WIMAAO), of which Eksteen is the designated South African President, has opened its doors at Eksteen’s dojo in the city.
The dojo is open to anyone who is interested in the sport and who would like to compete or simply stay fit. Eksteen focuses on stand-up tactics such as boxing, karate, kick boxing, muay thai, MMA, and intense fitness training routines.
He explains that his events and promotions offer the perfect platform for athletes who have the Extreme Fighting Championship (EFC), Fightstar, and Cape Fight League in their sights and, because he holds an international licence, he is authorised to host his own events which in turn creates opportunities for athletes to compete on a global scale.
His WIMAAO is unique as it allows both professionals and amateurs to take part in Eksteen’s King of the Cage matches which has proven to be very popular.
“Previous athletes who were successful at events I have hosted, especially fighters from Gauteng, have moved on and turned fully professional.
“Several of them even ended up competing in the EFC Africa fight card,” says Eksteen.
Eksteen plans to host a large MMA event this year in which local fighter, Paul Kubannek, will defend his SA WIMAAO title.
