Gold medal sends Thandi off to the Cape to represent Limpopo

After obtaining a gold medal for her performance in the recently held Regional P1 Athletics, Thandi Rameri is now set to represent the province during the next level of the athletics in Cape Town.

POLOKWANE – “I am feeling very happy and excited that I will be going to Cape Town to represent my province, I am enjoying and practising towards a 5 km triple long jump which I want to master before going to Cape Town. I now practice every Monday and Friday with the SA Athletics Club at the Peter Mokaba stadium to prepare for the competition,” she explained.

As a Jack of all Trades, Rameri not only has her unique set of skills in athletics but is also quite a good soccer player and is set on making her entry into the industry, before hanging up her soccer boots to become a policewoman.

“I have a passion for soccer and I play soccer better than most boys in my school and at home, so this is what urges me to pursue a career in soccer. I would also one day love to play it professionally, I also want to become a policewoman so that I can help fight crime in the community.

“It saddens me to see our siblings being lured or pushed to indulge in activities that are not dangerous and unhealthy so I strongly believe being a police woman will help bring harmony and peace in our communities,” she shared.

Rameri obtained a gold medal in long jump and triple long jump, making her school, Hoërskool Westenburg Secondary and community proud.

“Speaking to Bonus on her achievement, she explained the hard work and dedication needed to master her respective sporting codes. “One must be extra fit, mentally and physically to succeed.

“I practice my favourite sport at least three times a week, dedicating a afternoon to one sport and that is how I get to master them.

“One must, however not forget to still dedicate enough time to their school work so that they do not fail,” she concluded.
