Red-hot cricket on Tommie pitch

The weather might have been cold, but there was some red-hot cricket action at Technical High School Tom Naudé on Saturday.

POLOKWANE – The u/15 and u/19 teams from Tom Naudé and Khanyisa Education Centre in Giyani faced each other in provincial league matches.

Tom Naudé’s u/15 team won the toss and decided the visitors should bat first. They managed to score 52 runs before they were bowled out.

Ian van der Merwe and HP Robberts opened the batting for Tom Naudé as they chased down the total.

Tom Naudé eventually won by six wickets as they successfully managed to reach the target with the loss of only four wickets.

Tom Naudé’s u/19 team won the toss and opted to bat first. They sent Juvhan Ferreira and Damian Duvenhage in as opening batsmen.

The team managed to score 137 runs 38.4 overs before they were bowled out.

Guido de Marre scored 52 runs from 77 balls, while Mauritz Claassens managed 33 runs from 63 balls.

Khanyisa Education Centre’s u/19 team were unable to chase down Tom Naudé’s total. They were bowled out for 96 runs after 36.3 overs, with De Marre taking a five-wicket haul for 17 runs in his 10 overs.

Duvenhage was another star performer for the Tommies as he picked up three wickets in 6.3 overs.
