Local artists are invited to Lim’s first music summit

Recording industry executives, music performance rights representatives and other industry gurus will address local artists at Thursday's event.

POLOKWANE – The city will play host to the province’s first Annual Limpopo Music Summit taking place on Thursday.
Limpshacks Enterprises founder, Itumeleng Thobejane, says the summit aims to get local acts together and offer them guidance and possible career opportunities.

“Speakers from platforms such as Recording Industry of South Africa (RiSA), Southern African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO), South African Music Performance Rights (SAMPRA), record labels, publishers, artists and local radio stations will address artists at the event,” Thobejane explains. He continues, saying: “The aim is to raise awareness, educate and facilitate programmes that will push artists from Limpopo to an international standard, help them compile their music in an acceptable way for radio and TV stations and educate artists on music copyrights, royalties and available platforms to promote their work.”
Thobejane said musicians will be taught how to run an entertainment business successfully.

“During the event, upcoming and professional artists will be showcasing, selling, and promoting their music. We are expecting a maximum of 230 attendees,” he says.The summit is to be held at Polokwane Library Gardens Auditorium on 17 November from 09:00 – 17:00.
