Three clergymen of the city took up the challenge to become drivers of a campaign to turn the people of the city back to God when they established a local satellite of Turn to God (T2G) Ministries during 2015. The initiative was started by Elza Meyer in 2002 in Pretoria.
Jaco Putter, John Mokoena and Victor Malongane are already involved in 10 schools in the city, including Hoërskool Pietersburg (PHS) and Northern Academy where more than 2 000 learners recently gathered recently at the Flora Park Dam to pray.
According to Putter, a reverend at NG Kerk Pietersburg-Noord, the approach is structured and PHS educator Jessica Hattingh takes the lead in implementing projects to make learners aware of daily challenges and how to address it from a prayer ministry approach.
According to Putter, T2G aims to pray that the country will be ruled by righteousness, guided by truth, governed by love, inspired by hope, devoted to peace and blessed with abundance by humbly lighting the way for others to follow. “This city is already an example of what can be done in turning a community to God and several schools are already operating in accordance to Biblical principles, taking the T2G message to every learner. Learners pray for their school, city, community and country to turn wholeheartedly to God and some sport teams wear the T2G logo on their gear,” Putter added.
