Crime prevention units clamp down on unlicensed firearms

Information suggested that these firearms were hidden on top of the roof, inside the bedroom.

Crime prevention units from Standerton, Ermelo and Balfour succeeded in arresting suspects who were in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

According to information, a registered source provided details on 14 January regarding the suspects at stand no 1227 Mandela Section, Siyathemba Balfour. Information suggested that these firearms were hidden on top of the roof, inside the bedroom.

Police confiscated two short-guns with serial numbers L1036407 and 250B50, as well as a pistol with serial number Q099629, with live ammunition.

It was discovered that the pistol belongs to a police officer in Balfour and the guns belong to the Dipaliseng Municipality.

Cases were opened at the Balfour Police Station.
