NGO open day at IIE MSA

Local university, IIE MSA held an NGO open day for their students.

The IIE MSA recently hosted an NGO Open Day to instil a sense of community and social responsibility in their students.

“This event emphasised the importance of giving back to the community and collaborating with non-governmental organisations,” PR and event co-ordinator for IIE MSA, Makupa Madia, said.

“Students learnt about and engaged with various NGOs on the prospect of offering their services as volunteers.”

Some of the NGOs present included the South African Blood Services, Umnotho, Earth Centre and Rise Against Hunger. The latter ran a campus initiative where students and staff packed 6 480 nutritious food packages for children from impoverished areas.

“The packages will provide meals which will feed 28 children five meals a week for a year.”

National fundraising and marketing manager for Rise Against Hunger, Nadine Sandrock, thanked the IIE MSA for their continued support and dedication to addressing hunger.

“We are grateful to the students who volunteered their time to assist with packing and helping us increase our reach.”
