Foundation brings hope to the hopeless

The Sechaba Outreach Ministries assists individuals with ID application, rehabilitation, counselling, skills development and mentorship.

Every Saturday, the Sechaba Outreach Ministries brings joy and support to the city’s most vulnerable residents.

Spearheaded by Martin and his wife Pulane Hendricks, the foundation gathers about 40 adults and children for a cooked meal and a chance to rebuild their lives.

“Three years ago, we were moved to start this project in response to the growing pandemic of substance abuse in Roodepoort,” explains Martin.

“The need was overwhelming, and we saw an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those struggling with addiction, poverty, and despair.”

Since its inception, the ministry has achieved remarkable success, with countless individuals restored to their families and communities.

Through prayer, counselling, and rehabilitation programmes, the ministry has helped street caregivers, destitute youth, beggars, poor families, and unemployed individuals to regain their dignity and start afresh.

They also assist with Identification applications, skills development, and aftercare for the little ones.

“We’ve seen families reunited, individuals acquire new skills, and people find hope in the midst of desperation,” says Martin. “It’s a testament to the power of community and compassion.”

For more information on the ministry, community members are urged to contact Martin on 078 845 9048.
