Toastmasters honours outstanding members
The annual event celebrated the people making a difference in Toastmasters while welcoming a new team to lead the organisation in the year ahead.
Toastmasters District 74 recognised outstanding members and inducted a new leadership team during its annual Hall of Fame and Leadership Induction Dinner recently held at Lieu De Grace Venue.
The event brought together Toastmasters members from South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho and Namibia to recognise excellence in communication, leadership, education and service during the 2025/ 26 year. The evening also marked the induction of the District Executive Committee, which will lead District 74 during the 2026/ 27 year.
According to event organiser and logistics manager Lesedi Masina, the event was attended by Aletta Rochat, International President of Toastmasters International. Lesedi said Aletta leads the global non-profit educational organisation, which has more than 260 000 members in over 13 800 clubs across nearly 150 countries, and that her attendance highlighted the importance of leadership development within the Toastmasters network.
The Hall of Fame recognises members, clubs and leaders for their achievements and contributions throughout the Toastmasters year.
“What gets recognised gets repeated. The Hall of Fame is more than an awards ceremony; it celebrates the dedication of our members and inspires others to pursue excellence in communication, leadership and service,” said Lesedi.
She also added that the newly inducted committee will support more than 2 000 Toastmasters members across Southern Africa during the coming Toastmasters year.
Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organisation that helps people develop public speaking, communication and leadership skills through regular club meetings, prepared speeches, constructive feedback and leadership opportunities.
According to Lesedi, the organisation provides a supportive environment for people looking to improve their confidence, communication and leadership abilities.
District 74 has encouraged members of the public interested in developing their communication and leadership skills to visit a local Toastmasters club to learn more about the organisation.
