A proud moment for Logwood swimmers

Logwood Village swimmers proudly claim top 10 positions in the Midmar Mile.

The aQuelle Midmar Mile was an exciting hub for swim fanatics, hosting their 52nd annual event open to individuals of all ages and abilities to compete and swim in South Africa’s largest open-water swimming event.

Logwood Village swimmers competed in the disabled category and brought back home new milestones and memories to cherish. Logwood sports co-ordinator Elaine Learmonth, who also competed in the Midmar, proudly spoke of how the swimmers not only beat their previous swim time but also made a name for themselves in their respective categories.

“The team was absolutely fearless! Everyone came back home with a medal for their exceptional performance. We have one of the swimmers who was placed in the top five: Rickus Paul placed fourth with a time of 00:39:29 in the male intellectually disabled category.

Luke Gennrich, Neil Haswell, and Ruby Kirsch each placed in the top 10 for both the male and female intellectually disabled categories.

“We are so proud of them,” Elaine said.
