Schools battle it in friendly athletics competition

The learners showcased their talents in track and field events.

Laerskool Die Ruiter recently hosted an exciting athletics day, welcoming learners from various schools such as Laerskool Dr Havinga, Esparanza and Generaal De La Rey.

The event was held at Roodepark School on January 28 and featured a variety of track and field events, including long-distance running, shot put, high jump, long jump, sprints, hurdles, and a newly introduced Javelin throw.

Jerome Booysen, the athletics co-ordinator, mentioned that the day was a friendly competition among the schools and mainly aimed at preparing the learners for the cluster events that started on Thursday, February 12.

“This is another opportunity for our learners to showcase their talents, develop their skills, and secure a place in the final team for the bigger competitions,” he said.
