Local police officers finish Comrades Marathon at their first try

The pair were overjoyed that they also had a chance to ‘personally’ meet the well-known, no-nonsense and celebrated Kwa-Zulu Natal Police Commissioner.

SEDIBENG. – Constable Thabang Mothibe and Warrant Officer Petrus Motaung have a lot to be proud of.

The duo, who represented the Gauteng SAPS Running Club, finished the Comrades Marathon in Durban on Sunday, June 14.

Mothibe from the Vaal Marina Police Station finished at 11h53, and Motaung from The Barrage SAPS finished at 11h27.

The pair were overjoyed that they also had a chance to ‘personally’ meet the well-known, no-nonsense and celebrated, Kwa-Zulu Natal Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi.

“This was a heartfelt experience with a lot of weight on our shoulders and expectations but we pulled through and grateful that we finished in time and now looking forward to our back-to-back next year,” they said.
