“South Africa belongs to all who live in it.”
Many South Africans shed blood for this country to have what we now call a democratic society, therefore I believe that everyone has a right to live and work wherever they want to, particularly when they are qualified for that job, no matter where they come from.
I have recently been baffled by people who claim that the Vaal ‘belongs to them’ and people are ‘stealing their jobs’.
These people I have heard, believe that those that come from outside the area are taking their jobs, and I have seen that this has been made particularly clear by disgruntled members of political parties who feel that they are owed ‘heaven and earth’ just because they were born here. I trust that you will agree with me that what they are practising is reverse discrimination, or perhaps they have what is know as entitlement mentality.
I believe that the fact that you were born anywhere does not justify you claiming to be deserving of anything that you do not qualify for. You have to work for what you claim belongs to you! Would you tell me that just because you were born here you deserve to be an executive member of the board of Rand Water, when you know very well that you last left school during lunchtime many moons ago and never returned to class?
Many South Africans shed blood for this country to have what we now call a democratic society, therefore I believe that everyone has a right to live and work wherever they want to, particularly when they are qualified for that job, no matter where they come from.
You cannot tell me that just because someone was born in Kwa-Zulu Natal, Limpopo or the Free State, that they cannot come work in the Vaal.
That does not make sense!
While many were getting ready for their future, while they were getting an education to better their tomorrow, what were you doing to now come and claim a position by virtue of being born here? Work for what could be yours and stop claiming what does not belong to you.
