Man behind bars for raping stepdaughter

A Sasolburg man is expected to appear in court following his arrest for allegedly raping his 12-year-old stepdaughter.

ZAMDELA – A 29-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping his 12-year-old stepdaughter.

According to Fezile Dabi police spokesperson, Sergeant Josephine Rani, the news came to light after the victim wrote a letter to her mother informing her of the incident.

The mother later took the child to a local police station to open a case.

“On Sunday, November 9, at about 09:00, the complainant’s mother was at home with her older son when he came to his mother with a note allegedly written by his 12-year-old sister, revealing that her stepfather had been raping her.”

Rani said the Zamdela Crime Prevention Unit traced and arrested the suspect on the same day at around 22:20.

“The suspect is expected to appear before the Sasolburg Magistrate’s Court soon,” she said.
