The incident highlights the importance of collaborative efforts of the community working together with law enforcement officials to curb crime.
According to a police spokesperson, Constable Mampho Mahlomola, the team swiftly proceeded to the given address.
“On arrival at the address, the man who was found gave consent for the police to search the premises and to search him.
Mahlomola states that upon searching the man, police discovered a 38 special revolver, concealed in the suspect’s pants in the front waist area.
“The firearm was found with one live round of ammunition, and the serial number was deliberately filed off.” Mahlomola further says that the man failed to produce documentation qualifying him to have the firearm.
De Deur VISPOL Commander Lieutenant Colonel Bertie van der Ryst applauded the members for acting with remarkable swiftness and attending to the tip-off without hesitation.
