Expired goods and Illegal Immigrants seized

SEBOKENG.-Police officers from Sebokeng SAPS, in collaboration with Emfuleni Local Municipality’s (ELM) By-Laws Unit, Environmental Health, Gauteng Traffic Wardens, Patrollers, the Gauteng Department of Home Affairs, and Emfuleni Social Crime Prevention, launched a major operation targeting expired and illicit goods in local stores last week.
During the operation:
  • Fourteen tuck shops were inspected for compliance.
  • Five illegal immigrants were arrested.
  • More than 73 individuals were searched.
  • Eleven premises were inspected for contraband goods.
Acting Station Commander Colonel Stofina Mofokeng praised the team’s dedication, emphasizing that the operation aimed to protect public health by removing expired and counterfeit products from circulation.
“These operations will continue until all tuck shops comply with national standards for consumer safety,” she stated.
Sebokeng Police Spokesperson, Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane highlighted the importance of community support in keeping retail environments safe and compliant. The ongoing efforts, she noted, reflect a strong commitment to ensuring both public health and regulatory adherence.
