Sicelo clinic gets a visit from funders
The Sicelo area had no health facility for eight years due to damage to property by community members during service delivery protests.
SEDIBENG.– High-ranking board members from the global mining company South32 touched down in Midvaal on February 2 to conduct an oversight visit at the Sicelo Clinic.
The delegation, which included representatives from South Africa, Brazil, and Australia, visited the site to evaluate the real-world impact of the facility. The clinic was officially donated by South32 exactly one year ago, in February 2025.

The Sicelo area had no health facility for eight years due to damage to property by community members during service delivery protests.
The Department of Health said that the clinic now plays a critical role in restoring access to essential healthcare services, improving health outcomes, and strengthening dignity and well-being within the community.
“The visit provided an opportunity for the delegates to witness firsthand the positive change brought by this donation and to reaffirm the Gauteng health department’s commitment to sustainable, community-centred healthcare service.”
