Evaton man jailed for 30 years for murder and rape

The boyfriend was found guilty of murder and rape.

EVATON. – An Evaton man has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder and rape of a young women.

The sentencing took place at the Palm Ridge High Court following a case that began on March 27 last year. Police were called to a home in Small Farm around 18:00 where they discovered the body of a 19-year-old woman.

White foam was coming out of her mouth

Police spokesperson Constable Thulisile Msibi told Sedibeng Ster that officers found the victim lying on a bed, covered with a blanket.

“She had white foam coming from her nose and she appeared to have been forcefully strangled. She was declared dead on the scene by emergency services personnel,” said Msibi.

Boyfriend arrested

The victim’s boyfriend, a 32-year-old man, was later arrested.

He was found guilty of murder and rape. Along with his 30-year sentence, the court has officially declared him unfit to possess a firearm.

Msibi praised the work of Sergeant Detective Bheki Mkhoza, who worked tirelessly to ensure that justice was served for the community.
