Housing allocations in Boiketlong are a “dead campaign” – SACP

" Their campaign is dead and they using government to appear before the faces of the people."

SEBOKENG.- The South African Communist Party (SACP) in Vaal, has called the allocation of walk-in units in Boiketlong to the residents on Thursday a “dead campaign” by the ruling party, the ANC.

On Thursday, 140 qualifying beneficiaries received keys to their walk-up units at the Sebokeng Ext 30 Mega Project.

MEC Tasneem Motara, together with Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) Mayor, Hassan Mako, joined beneficiaries as they handed keys to the residents.

The Gauteng Human Settlements Department said that the handover forms part of ongoing efforts to provide qualifying Gauteng residents with access to sustainable human settlements and the security and dignity of homeownership.

SACP Vaal Secretary, Thembinkosi Pulu said that allocation of the walk-up units is “a dead campaign by the ANC”.

The SACP is a strong alliance partner of the ruling party.

“They were in ward 36 to bribe voters with allocation of houses. Their campaign is dead and they are using government to appear before the faces of the people,” said Pulu.

For some beneficiaries, the moment came after years of waiting, and among them were long-standing applicants and residents of Boiketlong Informal Settlement who have spent many years living in informal and makeshift accommodation.
