VANDERBIJLPARK.- It was end-to-end stuff when a ten-man Polokwane City pulled off a stunning upset on Saturday, beating Sekhukhune United in a fiery DStv Diski Challenge clash at Isak Steyl Stadium.
Despite coming into the match as underdogs following a 2-0 loss to Marumo Gallants, City looked like championship contenders from the opening whistle.

The stadium was packed to capacity, with a lively crowd of Vaal University of Technology (VUT) and NWU Vaal students creating an electric atmosphere.

From the first whistle, both teams made their intentions clear when they attacked each other.
City dominated the first 10 minutes, but faced a major setback when one of their key players was sent off.
He received a straight red card for a reckless tackle from behind.

Even with 10 men, Polokwane City kept their composure and went into the half-time break with a 1-0 lead. The second half saw non-stop action as Sekhukhune United tried to make their extra man count.

The home side made tactical changes, bringing on attacking players who breathed new life into the game.

Fans were on the edge of their seats, cheering their teams.

Among the spectators was former Orlando Pirates dreadlocked midfielder Sailor Tshabalala, who enjoyed this action-packed encounter. While impressed by United’s substitutions, especially jersey No 13, who made a huge impact when he came in, Tshabalala questioned why the home coach had not started them from the beginning.

City smiled all the way back to Polokwane.
