Cha Cha Cha at business day

Some of the teams had some interesting nicknames.

Port Shepstone Country Club‘s monthly business day last Friday, sponsored by Van Zyl Retief Inc, took the format of ‘Cha Cha Cha’.

In case you’re wondering, no, it wasn’t a dance but rather a twist on the traditional fourball format.

It meant that only the ‘best ball’ score counted on the first, then two on the second and three on the third.

Then the process repeats again on the fourth hole.

After all was said and done, the winners were the Blues, namely Albert dos Santos, Rob Vogt, Peter Howard and Chris Boyce, on 93 points.

Runners-up were the Nerds 2, aka Tom Pearson, Sheldon van der Merwe, Greg Small and Jesse ‘Casper’ Verster (ghost) being counted out.

Third place went to the Nerds 1, comprising Piet Snyman, Lionel Peters, Gary Vogt and Basil King, on 91 points.

Nearest the pins were won by Terry Kotze (5th), Greg Small (8th), Piet Snyman (14th) and Basil King (17th).

Saturday’s Pro Shop Meat Day was won on 47 points by Allan Clark and Kirk Larsen.

Runners-up were Gavin van Wyk and Howard Crouch on 46 points.

In third place were Gerald Koch and Fanie Terblanche on 43 points.

The previous Wednesday’s competition was won by Piet Snyman and Chris Boyce on 45 points, three ahead of George Bowie and Mark Smith on 42 points.
