NPO women lauded by welfare
KINGSBURGH Child and Family Welfare hosted a Women's Day programme at St Mary's Anglican Church in Warner Beach on Tuesday, 6 August.
Women from various non-profit organisations had an opportunity to relax and reflect on their involvement in the community. “We want to acknowledge and appreciate your greatness as women in the community. You see a need around you and don’t hesitate to get involved. You empower other women, mentor children, help survivors to heal and are advocates for seniors,” said senior welfare social worker, Sandra Govender.
She thanked the women for taking the time to making a difference in the lives of the people they serve. Guest speaker, Yanusha Chuturgoon of Pietemaritzburg who is just as passionate about community, spoke to the women about various projects she had been and is involved in. She described women as having amazing capablities and being able to work in any situation or solve any problem thrown at them.
