Cat rescue NPO appeals for help

ATHLONE Park's Linda Weldon-Church who runs a sanctuary and non-profit organisation, Purr-fect Rescued Cats appeals to the public for help.

Linda worked alongside her husband, David who tragically died in 2012. “I have dedicated all my time and energy to keep the sanctuary going on a skeleton staff as well as feeding the feral cats and wild birds in the area, as we done for the past 11 years,” said Linda.

The couple had relied on David’s income to feed the animals. “I now rely on the public to help me continue to feed these beloved animals. I am grateful for the help and have survived due to the public’s generosity and a large donation of cat and dog food, which is fast running out. I appeal to those who can, to donate monthly via stop or debit order. Even R20 or R50 a month will help,” said Linda.

Donations of cat, dog and bird food would be greatly appreciated or any animal-related items which can be sold at a market. If anyone has items to donate contact Linda for collection or drop off at her stand at the Essenwood Market in Musgrave, every Saturday.

“I am looking for a prize for our October raffle and a food hamper for a Christmas raffle.” Linda is grateful to the community for collection of newspapers and black bags. “I need medium-sized, empty coffee or powered milk tin cans with plastic lids which can be turned into collection tins. I also need venues where the tins can be placed.”

Deposits can be made to Purr-fect Rescued Cats, Standard Bank, Prospecton, account number 251-247-848, branch code 057-827.
