Register to vote at IEC offices
WHILE the announcement by President Jacob Zuma of the fifth national general election date as Wednesday 7 May has been made, prospective voters have one final opportunity to register to cast their votes.

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has been preparing for the election for the past two years and plans are well-advanced to ensure a credible, free and fair election.
All stakeholders, including voters and political parties intending to contest the elections, are reminded that the announcement of the date of the election does not constitute official proclamation of the election date.
Voter registration will continue until the date of the official proclamation of the election date, which is the date that the announcement is published in the Government Gazette.
If you have not registered as yet, make an appointment to register at your local IEC office before the voters’ roll closes.
To stay updated follow on Facebook, Twitter, www.elections.org.za or the call centre on 0800-11-8000, open 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Proclamation of the election date is expected at some stage in February. The publication of this official notice triggers the election timetable that establishes deadlines for the submission of candidate lists and applications for specials votes among others.
Consequent to consultation with political parties in the National Party Liaison Committee, the Electoral Commission will publish the full election timetable and will communicate key dates to all stakeholders via the media, its website and publication in the Government Gazette.
Voters who are registered can check their registration details including which voting station they are registered at by SMSing their ID number to 32810.
