Business workshop imparts skills

A BUSINESS skills workshop for 14 youth of four small businesses, which non-profit organisation, A Centre That Serves (ACTS) has partnered with, was held in Nsimbini on Friday, 7 February.

It was conducted by senior director of Mangosuthu University of Technology in learning and teaching and pastor of Higher Life Church International, Dr Joe Manyane Makua.

Representatives of a block making, sewing, chicken farming and a pre-school attended the workshop.

“The main objective of the workshop was to train the participants in small business management. It included topics such as business mindset, expectations, sustainability, cash flow management and conflict management,” said Benjamin Machikiche of ACTS.

Some of the questions asked by the participants were: ‘How can I grow and improve my business, how can I manage business cash flow, when do I pay myself and business partners, how can we market our business and how to build a sustainable business’.

“Participants were equipped with the knowledge of developing their businesses into sustainable entities. One of our main focuses this year and beyond is to provide training to communities and encourage them to be self-employed, to become self sustainable.”
