Ian makes it a double at ABC

The men’s novice singles has been played on a round robin system with seven players competing.

AMANZIMTOTI Bowling Club congratulates Ian Crouch on winning the senior singles competition with a good win over Ray Robinson.

Well done to Ray on being runner-up this year.

Ian also won the open singles a few weeks ago, so he is now a double champion.

In the mixed pairs semi-final Greg McLeod and Marion Crouch beat Doug Joubert and Elsie Walker; in the nominated womens’ pairs semi-final, Barbara Beamson and Jeanne Alexander defeated Delysia Mitchley and Tokkie de Kock; while Tokkie was the winner over Nicky Stirzaker in the handicap singles.

The men’s novice singles has been played on a round robin system with seven players competing. Congratulations to champion Mike Pitchers, who won overall with 12 points, and well done to runner-up Phil Perkins with 10 points.

In the women’s trips the winners were Bobby Stewart, Nita Meumann and Bernie Bretherton. Runners-up were Marion Crouch, Yvonne Wright and Stella Erasmus and the second session went to Mardi Dovale, Amanda Ninow and Sue Blount. Denise Bingham won the spider and Nita Meumann the 100 board.

Ian Crouch and Lofty van Tonder won the men’s nominated 2-4-2 picking up an eight, with Colin Coetzee and Dave Kemp in second place. The second session was won by Dallas Davis and Mickey Roche.

In the Victory Spar mixed 2-4-2 competition, the winners were Tony Cam and Maggie Robertson, with Ian and Marion Crouch in second place. The first session was won by Tony and Christine Darley, and the second session went to Peter Callaghan and Robyn Hutton. Nita Meumann won the mystery prize. Thanks to Allan and Denise for arranging prizes and complimentary drinks.

Trevor Dempsey’s key number 115 was drawn in the key competition but unfortunately it did not fit the box. Buy your tickets soon for next week’s draw, when the lucky key can win R3,500. Well done to Bobby Henderson whose tab was drawn in the members’ draw, winning him R350. Next week’s prize goes back to R100. The 100 boards were won by Gladys Hughes and Ben Venter.

The winners of the women’s mutton were Robyn Hutton, Nicky Stirzaker, Lee Jordan and Tokkie de Kock, and the runners-up were Pam Chalder-Royle, Jackie Holdrick, Betty Sawyer and Maggie Robertson. First session winners were Jeanne Alexander, Jane Coetzee, Heather Brown and Margaret van Belkum, and the second session went to Delysia Mitchley, Sharon de Kok, Leonie Mills and Leigh Callaghan.

The men’s mutton was won by Brian Diener, Paul Steel, Andrew Pearce and Dave Gardner, and in second place were Jerry Gertzen, Duncan Wright, Dave Kemp and Peter Snyman. First session winners were Vince Marriot, Dennis Hughes, Alf Bingham and Mike Roberts, while Ray Robinson, Coy Schrauwen, William Sithole and Hennie van der Poel took the second session.

Note the finals of the mixed pairs, the women’s nominated pairs and men’s handicap singles will take place on 6 September. The finalisation of other competitions will be announced on the board, so keep checking.

Members were saddened to hear that Tom Anderson has died. Tom was a former president of the club. Condolences go to Steve and the rest of the family and friends. Get well soon to all who are sick. Happy birthday wishes this week go to Cliffie Hole, Lee Madson, Dennis Hughes, Ernst Ubleis, Reg Turner and Tokkie de Kock.
