Vanishing fuel a common problem?

I was recently involved in a collision in my vehicle, and took my car to a reputable panel beater in Winklespruit.

EDITOR – I was wondering if you could publish this letter to ascertain if any other motorists in Toti have encountered the same problem as me.

I was recently involved in a collision in my vehicle, and took my car to a reputable panel beater in Winklespruit.

I should have been forewarned by the large volume of damaged cars entering the premises, with which the staff could barely cope. I was cheerily assured of three dates when my car was estimated to have been completed. Eleven days after the ‘estimated’ completion, I got to drive my vehicle home. To my consternation, the petrol gauge, which I never leave lower than the last quarter, was flashing empty.

I wondered whether it was part of the autoservice to siphon petrol from customers’ vehicles, or was it to lighten the load while they repaired the front passenger side bumper of the car? One never can tell.
