Police halted half a million rand worth of dagga from hitting the street and arrested six people during a vehicle search in Umbumbulu on Monday night, 7 November.
Umbumbulu SAPS crime prevention members, Csts Mhokozisi Praise-God Ngubane and Nonhlanhla Patrick Mthethwa were patrolling along the Umbumbulu main road at about 7.50pm, when they stopped a silver grey Toyota Hilux near Lugobe High School.
On inspecting the vehicle, they found 11 large sacks and one black bag containing dagga with a street value of about R500,000.

The driver and five passengers were arrested for dealing in dagga.
The vehicle was transporting the dagga from Bergville to Umzinto before they were stopped and arrested by the police.
“Cst Ngubane and Cst Mthethwa have made an excellent arrest, that not only affects the communities around them but Durban and the South Coast as a whole,” said Umbumbulu vispol commander Lt Col Phila Ronnie Khumalo.
Umbumbulu station commander, Col VS Dludlu commended the members for their commitment and professionalism in making such a good arrest.
