A housebreaker was apprehended by local law enforcement officers and three guns were recovered after a high-speed chase on Tuesday, 16 October.
A call of an attempted house robbery on Inyoni Crescent was shared over the CCPO radio network at about 4pm. It was established that a blue BMW was used and the details, along with a partial registration, was circulated.
ET Rapid Response’s tactical response team (TRT) has been patrolling Toti, along with the CCPO and SAPS, for the last week in anticipation of this gang, who have been creating havoc across Durban with their criminal activities.
“Our TRT came across the suspects’ vehicle on Ramble Road in Athlone Park. Once they realised they were spotted, they sped away,” said ET Rapid Response South Coast managing member, Tony Lokker.

A chase through Athlone Park led onto the N2 northbound. “Thanks to the radio network we share, another ET TRT vehicle managed to wait ahead on the N2, with Metro K9 en route,” said Lokker.
A high speed chase ended on Himalaya Road in Merebank where the suspects lost control and crashed their vehicle. All four jumped out and fled with ET’s Louis van Reyneveldt hot on their heels. One suspect was apprehended and three 9mm hand guns, taken in other house robberies across Durban, were found in their getaway vehicle.
