Car show to drive in funds for teen diagnosed with Systemic Lupus

The public is encouraged to attend the car show as all funds will be greatly appreciated.

A special fundraising car show will be held on Saturday, 23 November to raise funds for a 16-year-old girl who has been diagnosed with auto-immune disease called Systemic Lupus.   The PL League Chapter two Finale will be held at Strelitzia Secondary School situated in Isipingo from noon.

Ashen Ramadhar embarked on the fundraising venture after hearing Anisha Singh’s heart breaking story.  In August 2014, the Grade 6 learner at the time, was a top achiever and would excel in all her subjects, when suddenly without warning she was struck down with the auto-immune disease.  This disease affects multiple systems and organs in the body.

Ashen is the founder of the non-profit organisation, KwaZulu-Natal Foundation who hopes that through the fundraising campaign he will be able to lessen the financial burden from her parents.

Anisha is an outpatient at Albert Luthuli Hospital and goes twice a year for thorough medical examinations.   She is on a lot of medication to keep her condition stable. She needed intensive physiotherapy but unfortunately she wasn’t able to get this from the local hospital. In May 2018, Anisha could not even stand on her feet or even by holding on to someone.

“She was often sick and had pains in her legs and joints, now, however, she is walking up to 20 metres, either with a walker or with crutches.  She is so much more confident and so much stronger in all her muscles.  She is optimistic and is never willing to give up until she has gained her independence again,” he said.

The public is encouraged to attend the car show, as all funds will be greatly accepted.  Alternatively, donations can be deposited into her bank account with the use of the following bank details: FNB, Anisha Singh, account number: 62823967586, Umkomaas branch.
