St Winifreds housebreaker nabbed by CCTV footage

After viewing the footage, Snodey saw it was the same suspect.

A housebreaker was apprehended by the CCPO on Wednesday, 21 October after he broke into a complex in Patricia Place, St Winifreds two days prior. He stole a folding camping table at about 5am and was walking down the R603 with it when CCPO supervisor, Logan Naidoo and his crewman spotted him. As they stopped, he dropped it and fled.

“Fortunately the homeowner has pretty decent security cameras installed. When he came forward to claim the table, he told us he has footage. The suspect, who is known to us, is a habitual criminal, who has been arrested before.”

On Wednesday morning he returned and stole a braai stand. After viewing the footage, Snodey saw it was the same suspect. “I managed to find out where he is living and after getting information that he was in the area, held observation near his residence.”

When he had returned home, Snodey called Naidoo for assistance and apprehended the suspect. Toti SAPS was called to arrest him and take him to the police station, where he was charged and detained. “The suspect was arrested for theft less than a year ago and was out on parole.”
