According to a statement by the Amanzimtoti CPF, “The purpose of the sessions was to ensure that those working in child protection, especially house mothers, have the knowledge and resources to deal with whatever situations they face when providing safe care to children.”

Warrant Officer Derrick Minya spoke on the Child Justice Act, and Mildred Ncgobo from Uthingo Crisis Centre spoke about GBV/abuse-reporting protocols and procedures. Amanzimtoti CPF chairperson Merlene Matthew spoke on human trafficking and cybersafety.

“Together, we work to safeguard our children and those on the frontlines striving to protect them,” read the statement.

Mother of Peace is a children’s home that depends on the generosity of the community and beyond to maintain a safe, nourishing and happy environment for over 60 children of all ages. These are children who have been abandoned, orphaned or abused.
