Kingsburgh Child and Family Welfare turns 80 this year

Kingsburgh Child and Family Welfare are looking into fundraising initiatives in the run-up to its 80th anniversary later this year.

THIS November the Kingsburgh Child and Family Welfare (KCFW) will reach its milestone 80th anniversary. The organisation has served the community with compassion, dignity and unwavering commitment for an awe-inspiring eight decades.

In some 45 years at the welfare body, chairperson Jenny Smith has been behind the organisation during its highs and lows. She said, “We nearly closed twice with the most recent being 2020. Since then, we changed it around and we have gone from strength to strength. It’s just a way of life for my family. I think it’s important for people in the community to know that they are the lifeline of this organisation. Whatever people donate can buy a can of beans for a family, a loaf of bread. It can clothe them. Whether they donate one item of clothing or anything, it touches somebody’s life in some way. When our charity shop sells something, we are able to buy food for families that truly need it.”

In the lead up to November, KCFW would like to keep its tree of life growing and blossoming, and are looking to hold fundraising initiatives to raise R80 000 towards continuing its legacy of compassion and care and expanding its reach to touch more lives.
