Everything from crocheted plush animals to jewellery, koeksisters to savoury snacks, and loads of fun and games for children were on offer during the fundraising event.

Dalene Heath, founder of Toti Community Assist, expressed sincere thanks to the stallholders, community members and various emergency responders and security providers that attended the event, as well as Warner Beach Preparatory School for its venue.

“We would like to encourage members of the community to become volunteers with local organisations to see first-hand the work being done. A community that stands together are a stronger community. We look forward to a sunnier day for our next event, and more people supporting local artisans, security companies and small businesses,” said Heath.

A message of support

One of the stallholders, Kim Merridew, said that she met Heath a few years ago, helping out with another local NPO.

“When my husband lost his job, Dalene assisted with food hampers through TCA for us,” said Merridew.

She explained that it is a big help whenever flea market events are held in Amanzimtoti, as she is able to sell her hand-made crafts.

Merridew encouraged the community to support her and fellow artisans during flea markets in the community.
