In the SUN 33 years ago: Amanzimtoti finally gets robots

They were installed at the busiest intersection to improve the flow of traffic that would often bottleneck at that point.

THE March 5, 1993 edition of the South Coast Sun carried the exciting news that Amanzimtoti’s first robots were set to start working at the end of that month.

These were installed at the Kingsway – Adams roads intersection (Andrew Zondo and Khotho Mkhunya roads today) to improve the flow of traffic that would often bottleneck at that point. This was 63 years after the first robots were installed in Durban in 1930.
