The festival, hosted by Doon Heights Primary School (DHPS), marks the only event involving learners from grades one through seven. The cost for entry was one pet food item, which was all donated to Amanzimtoti SPCA.

The schools involved included Kuswag Skool, Amanzimtoti Primary, Athlone Park Primary, Warner Beach Primary, Umbogintwini Primary and Scottburgh Primary schools.

The audience, made up of numerous families, set up cosy picnic spots along the field. They were captivated by stirring performances of songs such as Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody and Michael Jackson’s Heal the World, and exciting performances of songs such as Meghan Trainor’s Better when I’m dancing.

The highlight of the programme were the mass items, where the school choirs came together to deliver powerful performances.

Liesl Kroukamp of DHPS said the mass items were all the more special, because the schools never performed them together prior to their performances at the festival.
