Boots full of treasures at Amanzimtoti car boot market [Pics]

Toti Community Assist has brought car boot markets to Amanzimtoti and will be hosting monthly markets at Re/Max Toti's grounds.

ONE person’s junk may well be treasure for another person. With this in mind, Amanzimtoti community members loaded their trunks and set up shop at Re/Max Toti’s grounds on March 7, where their vehicles served as storefronts for NPO Toti Community Assist’s (TCA) first car boot market.

Founder of TCA, Dalene Heath, said when she asked TCA members for their input on how to raise funds for the organisation, a car boot sale popped up as the top suggestion, and after speaking to Re/Max Toti, their grounds will now be the premises for a monthly car boot sale and market.

“A R100 booking fee goes to TCA and stallholders and car boot sellers keep every penny they make from sales. This market is an opportunity for local artisans and community members to make an income each month, especially with flea markets in the local community coming few and far between,” said Heath.

Security service providers are available at the market for the community to either sign up for services or to get advice. Heath explained that other NPOs and security companies are not charged a stall fee as they too need ways to receive support to continue serving the community.

“Our community can load up their trunks and join us for the next one in April, which will be bigger than the first,” she said.
