ET response officer shot in Illovo while responding to alarm

A reaction officer responding to an alarm activation in Illovo C section was shot before escaping and making his way to a hospital.

AN ET Rapid Response officer was struck in the head while responding to an alarm activation in Illovo C section, off the R603, at around 03:00 this morning (July 6).

Tony Lokker of ET Rapid Response released a statement explaining that as the officer’s response vehicle approached the premises, multiple suspects opened fire, leading to the reaction officer being struck in the head.

He managed to get out of harm’s way, and while calling for assistance he made his way to a nearby hospital.

He suffered a gunshot to the side of the head, with an exit wound at the back. He is undergoing further tests and examination.

Lokker said ET Rapid Response will keep the community updated with the officer’s prognosis on its Facebook page.
